State legislative activity

Recently, the governor signed the following bills of interest into law:

  • Dispensing of controlled substances by emergency departments – Chapter 466 of the Laws of 2024
  • Flu vaccine requirement – Chapter 492 of the Laws of 2024
  • Medicaid coverage for prenatal testing – Chapter 474 of the Laws of 2024
  • Information for maternity patients – Chapter 464 of the Laws of 2024
  • Intravenous contrast media – Chapter 476 of the Laws of 2024
  • Physician assistants – Chapter 520 of the Laws of 2024

The governor vetoed the following bills:

  • Patient records – Veto No. 27
  • Primary care practitioners for Medicaid managed care – Veto No. 52
  • Hospital-home care-physician collaboration program – Veto No. 44

CMS awards 200 GME slots nationally

17 New York hospitals were among 109 hospitals nationwide recently awarded Round 3 GME slots by CMS.
