Thank you to all the healthcare leaders from across the state who gathered in Saratoga Springs for the Healthcare Trustees of New York State’s 44th Annual Trustee Conference. Trustees and other leaders explored governance excellence and gained tools and strategies to take back to the boardroom. This week the governor signed the following bills of interest into law:

• EMS blood storage and transfusion – Chapter 316 of the Laws of 2024
• Medicaid reimbursement for TIP and TAD – Chapter 317 of the Laws of 2024

CMS revised guidance and updated FAQs regarding the rural emergency hospital enrollment and conversion process for eligible hospitals. REHs are a new provider type established by the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 that provide emergency and outpatient medical health services to patients that generally stay less than 24 hours. The final interpretive guidance for REHs is pending and will be provided in a future release. 

The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board is holding its 2024 NYS Workers’ Compensation Conference for healthcare providers Oct. 18 in Albany. Register and learn more about available CME credits on their website.
