HANYS launches New York Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Collaborative
The New York GEDA Collaborative brings together 15 New York hospitals pursuing Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation. The collaborative ensures older patients receive geriatric-focused, quality care by an interdisciplinary team, resulting in optimal transitions from the ED to other settings. Generously funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation, participating hospitals receive project management and technical support from HANYS and training and implementation assistance from the Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative.
Spotlight on St. John’s Episcopal Hospital
In response to growing food insecurity, SJEH collaborated with The Campaign Against Hunger to distribute fresh produce and non-perishables every week. Together, the organizations distributed about 5,000 boxes of fresh produce and provided free COVID-19 vaccinations, test kits, health screenings and education. Learn more in our Member Spotlight.
Healthcare worker bonus portal opens
The Health Care and Mental Hygiene Worker Bonus program portal launched this week, initiating the process by which healthcare employers will submit claims for bonuses of up to $3,000 per person. As a result of HANYS’ advocacy, the list of eligible worker titles has expanded to include housekeeping, maintenance, clerks and other non-clinical staff. The deadline to submit claims for the first vesting period is Sept. 2.
