Adapting for adversity: Creating a continuous improvement coaching curriculum during COVID-19
March 23, 2022
Webinar
Noon - 1 p.m.
This event is open to HANYS members and non-members.
During the first COVID-19 wave, the Mount Sinai Health System operations development team paused their on-site Lean work and pivoted to adapt and launch COVID-19-conscious tiered huddles and improvement processes throughout the system.
This webinar will explore how the team designed and implemented a virtual continuous improvement curriculum to teach and coach frontline managers and leaders in principles of Lean, daily management and continuous improvement. This leader training included presentations, readings, videos, virtual gembas, asynchronous activities and a coaching component held over Zoom. Learn how, despite the virtual environment, the coaches fostered productive relationships and ultimately reached even more participants across campuses without the usual travel time constraints.
During this webinar, participants will:
- contrast the virtual continuous improvement curriculum with the pre-COVID-19 Lean work of the operations development team;
- examine how to implement and adapt a virtual huddle, including virtual daily management boards; and
- describe the role of Lean coaches in the new virtual continuous improvement approach.
This webinar is part of HANYS' Healthcare Innovation and Lean Network of New York series.
Speakers:
Hilary Pauli, MPH, Associate Director, Health System Operations Development, Mount Sinai Health System
Stacia Studt, MS, Process Improvement Manager, Mount Sinai Health System
