Leveraging community violence specialists through SNUG

December 7
Webinar

This event is open to HANYS members and non-members.

HANYS is relaunching our Responding to aggressive behavior in healthcare settings webinar series. Members will have the opportunity to hear from hospitals and leaders statewide about strategies for creating an environment where visitors, patients and staff are respected and safe.

During this session, hospitals will discuss ways the SNUG program has helped prevent violence in the healthcare setting and community. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services will also share ways hospitals can engage in SNUG programming. The SNUG Street Outreach program deploys violence interrupters to mediate conflict, mentor youth and work with local partners. The SNUG social work program is a partnership between DCJS and the New York State Office of Victim Services that addresses trauma and improves access to victim services for participants and their families.

Speakers:

Erika Mendelsohn, LCSW, Statewide Social Work Director, SNUG Street Outreach, New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services

Additional sessions:

Sept. 27 | Mitigating circumstances that can lead to injury

Oct. 19 | Supporting patients with dementia
