Statement from HANYS President Bea Grause, RN, JD, on Governor Cuomo’s 2020 State of the State Address
ALBANY, N.Y. — “We are pleased that Gov. Cuomo proposed important public health initiatives in his State of the State Address today that aim to improve the health of all New Yorkers. We also recognize that the state faces a budget deficit and a Medicaid imbalance and we want to be part of the solution. Medicaid already underpays providers for the healthcare services they deliver and we simply cannot balance the state budget on the back of struggling healthcare providers. We appreciate that the governor seeks to bring together all stakeholders to find a path forward. HANYS shares the governor’s pride in New York’s values and grit and we are determined to keep fighting for a healthcare system that embodies New York’s motto, excelsior.”
