The Department of Health (DOH) has released the nursing home Medicaid rates effective April 1, 2009 and January 1, 2010. These are being provided as “notice” rates and will not be used for payment until DOH receives CMS approval. HANYS, along with NYAHSA and NYSHFA, will host this Webconference, where DOH will explain these rates and answer any questions facilities may have.

Due to expected high registration, we would like to limit this Webconference to one line per facility. We strongly encourage interested staff to listen together in one office if possible. We will record the session and post it on our Web site for anyone who cannot attend.

Professionals working in the following areas are appropriate for this:

• Directors of Reimbursement
• Nursing Home Administrators

What will be reviewed

The rates effective April 1, 2009 are the 2002 rebased rates with Medicaid only case-mix adjustments. These rates add an additional $210 million into the current nursing home Medicaid reimbursement system. They also include no adjustment for the 2008 and 2009 trend factor due to recent budget action. The case-mix adjustment for both the April 1, 2009 and January 1, 2010 rates comes from the census roster from January 28, 2009 that facilities uploaded through the HPN.
